Lethargic, 1 yr old puffed up hen, clear liquid from mouth

I do not know if she is laying but will know soon since I’ve quarantined her. She is eating some scrambled egg now so I’m considering that as a good sign.

Lethargic, 1 yr old puffed up hen, clear liquid from mouth

One of our wyandottes suddenly separated herself from the rest of the flock, she stood by the water all evening yesterday and didn't move. When I went to pick her up she didn't startle or anything. She did go into the coop last night, but didnt roost. She slowly walked to a nesting box and...

Preppers were right! No toilet paper in the stores due to Coronavirus scare.

@Kusanar I just noticed you are in Roanoke! I am in Christiansburg! :frow Stores here are ramsacked in the paper products aisles, hand sanitizer, and some weird areas. Schools are closed, universities have gone on-line, all over a cold!

Broody Hen- 6 Weeks and Counting

I just gave her a cool bath. Dunked her in over her back but not over her head. This has seemed to make a difference. She isn’t doing the broody cluck anymore and is standing outside now

Broody Hen- 6 Weeks and Counting

We don’t have electric in our coop. We also only have shelter for the run up under the coop and there isn’t enough space to put the cage under it.

Broody Hen- 6 Weeks and Counting

@21hens-incharge @Chickassan would holding her in my lap for a while on the ice pack help? I don’t know how else to get her to stay on it?

Broody Hen- 6 Weeks and Counting

I have not tried that, would she just get up and go to another nesting box that was warm? She moves between them all the time.

Broody Hen- 6 Weeks and Counting

We have a bantam cochin who has been broody since the first of February. I tried the cage method for over a week, it didn't break her. She has now plucked feathers out of a huge area on her chest and continues to brood and squawk. She is coming out to eat still, and will dust bathe with...

My chickens are free ranging into dangerous territory

We share almost a 5 acre side with our neighbor there’s no way we could fence it. For their safety I will have to keep them in the run

My chickens are free ranging into dangerous territory

We have 14 chickens and until this point, they enjoy free ranging at least an hour or so in the evenings before bedtime and on the weekends when we are outside working. We have over 60 acres on the back of our property that they can roam freely. In the last few days, they have started...

    Broody Hen, I think?

UPDATE: She is STILL broody. The others boot her out if she is in their favorite nesting box and she makes whichever box she can get in, her home. She has come out once on her own in the last week that we know of. We are getting her out at least twice a day and she eats/does her business and...
