    looks like the only thing you missed was small mesh wire around your foundation and eave openings. Rats will find the grain if you dont block their access. Other than that this looks better than perfect!

    I use straw. We have 3 or 4 bales of it at any time and the straw is about 3 - 12 inches thick all over the coop and pen.
