Hello all,
I thought I was ready but forgot a vital piece of info....how soon after a chick hatches do you move it to the brooder?? I know they can survive on the yolk for a while but what about water?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cool! Hadn't thought of OEG, but I'm still new to chickens... Forgot to mention earlier that he also has a single white feather on one wing, really neat!
A friend just gave us this little roo..we know he's a bantam but I'm not sure about the breed. Some kind of mix?? Anyone have an idea as to what he may be.

Would of responded sooner but the neighbors dog dug up the phone line! No phone or internet!! But the good news is tormorrow finally came and I have my chicks!!

If you don't want to watermark your images you could try disabling right click or use a clear gif over the images. Could do a google search, I'm sure theres code out there for both.
The waiting is driving me nuts!! I am picking up my chicks tomorrow from Ideal!!! 10 white silkies!! The brooder is ready and waiting ! I will post pics tomorrow! In the meantime I have been reading the forum and now I'm looking forward to hatching!! Is that nuts? I don't even have chicks yet...
I have not seen this answered anywhere and I'm still new to raising chicks (still waiting to pick them up on 2/3), so was curious if handling chicks to much can be harmful to the chicks... I have 3 girls and I can just imagine the "Mom can I hold one" question will be heard a million times...
