We always use a nice fat juicy piece of bacon - it's harder to pull off the trap and the mice just love it! But it does sound like you got a lesser quality trap. Victor is the best for sure!

We have noticed small (1 1/2 inch in diameter) in the floor of the chicken coop - perfectly round and angled into the ground. Are these snakes or rodents?? I thought mice because we have the feed stored in the shed in barrells next to the coop but they can't get to it and the mice are smaller...
We have a heated plastic waterer and it works just fine. But my husband did have to cover the wire with PVC pipe to prevent critters (mice) from eating their way through it. We had a hard winter for the Southeast last year (below zero) and it worked great!!
