I picked these up and am brooding them for my aunt since she's unable to at the moment though if there is something amazing I just might nab it for my own flock :) Very young, I believe there is a silkie in there but there is another with similar feathers but no black skin. Anyway. Toss out any...
Previously in my tiny town chickens were not allowed. The beginning of the year changes were made, reading through them is like trying to scry a mud puddle so it's been difficult to see if things have changed.
Small rural town that likes to think it's Beverly Hills. While I do not plan on...
Growing up we pretty much got only morels and andy gumps (aka peckerheads) and it was just recently that my father decided to try to expand his mushroom vocabulary. We tried turkey tails last year and this year we are watching out for 'chickens' and a few more.
These were all taken over the last few weeks. I shoot mainly with a Canon 5D with a 40D as my backup.
I'm not looking forward to attempting to acclimate my GSP to the chickens...I think it's going to be a case of keeping them completely separated. Fun fun. Really looking forward to getting some...
Dirty, my post came across a bit more snotty then intended.
I know at my TSC they have "chick care" pamphlets that new buyers can grab. And honestly, Id go with a red heat bulb with the reflector lamp. They are cheap and you can always use it in the future if you purchase more chicks. That's...
I have hunted deer since I was 11. I'm not quick enough for rabbit hunting but can process them no proble, this year will be the first we butcher chickens. I'm not looking forward to it. The actual dispatching as never been my thing but I always feel pride when "I" put food in the freezer. We...
I had a few patches of fuzzy mold on top that I removed and threw away. I added a touch more hot water and ACV. When I stir I get bubbles but not when it's just sitting.
I had been doing well, only getting our eggies and meaties then I stumbled upon the last bantams at TSC....now to build a coop expansion.
Also, you guys mix your layers and meat birds or do you keep them separate?
I had planned perfectly for our eggy girls and meatie chicks. No chicken math...then those dang bantams got me too. i now have three. No idea what mine are either.
"just a chick".... Attitudes like that are a painful reminder of what is wrong in our society.
What's done is done. You did what you could now focus on the loved babies, sounds like they are going to be good and spoiled.
Things like this make me more conscious of how I show my daughter how animals are treated.
That's just disgusting and I'm sorry it happened, but next time (if you do decide on a next time) follow your gut, it rarely steers you wrong.
