    So today I have 5 little ducklings and 4 more to go. I expect they will all finish hatching by tomorrow evening. So cute! Pics tomorrow.:D

    We now have 7 pipped eggs and 1 hatch. I think I may have one pipper that has died, the shell is becoming discolored, so if no progress tomorrow, it will be tossed. I expect to see 7 more duckies by tomorrow morning. Here is a pic of the first one to hatch, resting in his warm enclosure.

    I have been raising Silver Welsh Harlequins for over a year and I really do enjoy them. Lay eggs every day. Don't fly. Not very noisy. Good meat. What's not to like? And they eat snails!:ya

    Checked all the eggs yesterday, had one that had to go, so down to 10 and all are moving and twitching with the light. Tomorrow is lock-down and I am getting their "new hatch-lings" quarters ready as our weather is very iffy, so they will be inside for at least a week.

    You have no idea how many folks don't think a rooster is necessary. My daughter (a paramedic!!!) didn't know the answer.     How far along are my eggs??

    You need a much more powerful light to see through those brown shells. Find a flashlight with super powerful led lights, turn of all other lights (in the closet works good) and make sure no light leaks between the egg-TP roll.

    Ok, here is a pic of my hatching set-up, which I keep in the tack room of the barn. 2 Brinsea Minis, plus all the supplies/equipment needed when they finally hatch out. Note my Avatar has changed to show one of my duck eggs candled this morning. Titan candler is in the middle.

    Titan high intensity egg candler. Got it on Amazon. Really bright light, so if you are candling dark shelled eggs, it will work. When I candle the eggs again in a few days, I'll get a pic and post it here.
