Thx. She won the battle. Had enough fight in her to not take another syringe period!
Also was limping alot less but still limping. Could be using it may be as good as resting on it. It's near night anyway and the rest of the pack are just ignoring her. So out of pergatory for the night on good...
Actually spent some time with her. She is eating wonderfully.. not sure if she's drinking. I may have filled her. I'll put more down her tonight.
Put her with the rest of the troop and she reacted fine. They seemed okay with her. She has a leg foot issue as she doesn't have the balance and...
Hours, maybe overnight. Did a headcount this morning and came up 1 short 2 times but somehow thought I came up good the 3rd time. Fast moving little buggers.
She currently not moving just laying in 1 spot though I haven't bothered her for a while. Just check to see if she's breathing.
Not...
9 week old girl got jammed behind a nesting box. (Design flaw fixed). No idea how long she had been there. Figured she was a goner due to eyes and body language for lack of a better term.
Separated her in a kennel and force fed her electrolyte water. 20 cc, maybe half went in? Let her rest. She...
Well the girls are 9 weeks old and have been here a little over a day and a coop design flaw almost (getting better) cost 1 life. I figured I would probably accidentally kill a chicken while learning. Soooooo plenty of time left.
There was a roughly 2.5 inch gap behind the nesting boxes and a...
Alright the girls are home. I'm watching 1 as she is staying by herself right now but seems a little stressed. She is laying down but doesn't seem lethargic or anything.
I haven't seen anyone eat or drink yet. I dunked everyone's beak in the waterer as its different than what they are used too...
The coop is 6 ft high chainlink and thick gauge welded wire also 6 foot tall. Chain link fence dug in and buried on the outside of the runs. Same around the coop. Expanded metal covering all openings. Not done yet, will have barbed wire along the top of the fence. Several strands.
The coop has...
Didn't see anything relating to this.
Getting pullets next week. 10 weeks or so. No existing chickens here. Looking for tips such as...
Do I leave them inside for a period, or let them in the primary run? I have 3 runs sectioned off approx 700 Sq feet each. The 2 other runs will be opened at a...
Ok more questions. Be patient you'll eventually completely ignore me. " Man this guy asks alot of questions!"
How far below the lowest roost should the trays be located? I figure that it needs to be maybe 6 to 8 inches minimum? Too much lower wastes space as it would be harder to wander around...
OK I may combine some of the ideas here. I like the nesting boxes under the roosts and I will need to use a poop tray of design"X" to keep the top of the boxes clean. This saves valuable space for me and makes it less likely for them to roost on the boxes. I may actually make more boxes...
Sitting in the coop for some time thinking about the ventilation. Also trying to escape the 50 mph wind which is not uncommon where I live. Actually far too common. I need to work with 0 to 50 mph winds. I assumed that it would make a huge difference in the winter -20 degrees and nasty winds...
Someone recommended poop trays under the roosts. Sounds like a good idea. I was thinking commercial baking pans. Found a good deal but they are an hour away where I almost never go. What ideas do you guys have. I can make metal ones but not sure how large of sheets I have.
