Thank you. Also, it's kind of for everyone, so feel free to participate since we're all in this together, although you already are by being chicken owners, of course.

If you're ever wanting to give away any birds, particularly females, I'm doing sustainability work in a lot of neighborhoods, including low income neighborhoods, by providing fruit trees, vegetable seeds, coop building materials, chickens and seeds to grow feed. Also, some in not-so-low income...
Wow. Rob showed me your posts. I'm so happy you all like the video. My chickens have been very happy having enrichment activities. I'll pass on how-to info if you have specific questions. It doesn't take too many repetitions for them to learn -- maybe 6 to 8, although sometimes I have to...
It's often helpful to let the Supervisor know what the ordinance is. The link is here: http://library1.municode.com/default-test/template.htm?view=browse&doc_action=setdoc&doc_keytype=tocid&doc_key=62350e0a7986a29bb066a8302c365415&infobase=16286
although apparently it's not viewable...

Each interested person could write an e-mail to their District Supervisor (look on the website to figure out which one that is), and I would suggest sending a copy to Ron...
So here's specifically what's happening in El Cerrito -- the Environmental Advisory Committee is deciding on just what to suggest for the chicken ordinance change, i.e., how many, do they need to be a certain distance from neighbors' property lines, etc. I'm the citizen they ask for input from...
Dear New Mother,
I live in Contra Costa County (El Cerrito), and my city has jumped on the bandwagon at my request to change the Ordinance. Now, the city next door, Albany, after having attended an El Cerrito city meeting, has published an encouragement to their citizens to have backyard...
Wow! I love seeing all of your enthusiasm. You will have as much fun teaching your birds as they will have learning. In fact, I think we'll be doing the whole chicken world a favor by letting everyone know they're much more capable than we have given them credit for. Training is good for us...
With my rooster and one of my hens, it takes about 30 seconds for them to figure it out and start doing it on most things. Once in awhile they need to see it a couple of times and then they finally get it in two or three days. The other hens are young and are also starting to learn fairly...
Thanks for those who gave positive feedback. I gave them mealworms. It's an interesting phenomenon; they actually get responsive and, as animals trainers have written, you can noticeably see their enthusiasm and heightened attentiveness overall after training them, not just when they're doing...
I decided to see if I could train my city chickens because I wanted to keep my rooster, Sage. I have manged to train them and to keep him. I'm still adding new tricks and skills.
Here's a link to a video about my trained chickens for those who would enjoy it.
