I got this hen from my neighbors when (I think) she was about 2 years old (she’s around 5 now). She or her sister laid green eggs when they were laying. She has random feathers growing on her feet and has a small comb. I’ve tried looking for her breed many times, with no luck. Any ideas of what...
She was perfectly normal last night. Whatever happened, happened today. I have a feeling it’s a wasp sting, since I have wasps that live nearby, but I’m not sure. Thank you in advance!
(first img is what her face normally looks like)
I was looking into scaly leg mites, and that might actually be what she has, do to the raised leg scales and weird scaly lumps... but would it make sense if she was limping with one leg that was clearly painful to use? Or could it be possible that she just hurt her leg and *also* has leg mites...
I have a 10 and a half month old hen who I'm afraid has early signs of bumblefoot. Her symptoms are limping (favoring her right leg), laying down, and slight slowness due to the limp. She has one small mark (light colored) near the middle of her left leg, idk if that matters tho- but she has...
I was thinking… I could probably get a good sized coop pretty easily, and just have two different coops… maybe the new one could be a sickbay/young chicken coop, and the old one can be for the main flock/older birds? That could eliminate the two rooster problem, if there’s two pens and two...
I have lived in New England my entire life, and I’ve had chickens in this coop my entire life. My family has had 14 chickens before, and we haven’t had many problems with it. How big should a pen housing 14 chickens be?
Very sorry, I suck at measurements. I’m guessing the pen is 20 (probably more) feet large? I know it’s more than enough for my chickens… and I’m not really worried about it anyway. Sorry if I’m hard to work with here ;-;
(Put these two pics side by side, and that’s the pen. There’s also a truck...
Sorry! My chickens do have a pen, and it’s really big. I believe the coop is 4’ long, that’s what I meant when I said that. I can take better pictures too (:
Yeah, I wouldn’t want two roosters in the first place… I was just wondering if I *could*. Do you think my coop is too small for the amount of chickens that I have already? Should I make it bigger? Most of my chickens don’t free range, but some do.
So, I have twelve hens, one rooster, and one 2 and a half month old cockerel. I’m wondering what I should do when he matures more? My coop is relatively small, but it’s big enough to house all my chickens comfortably.
Do I have enough hens for 2 roos? Should I keep both, or get rid of one? (my...
