    Coop Heater Advice

Hello! Looking for advice on a safe heater for a wood coop. I’ve seen the plate heaters that you can hang from the walls and wondering if that’s 1) safe and 2) efficient at giving extra heat to the coop? I have 5 buff Orpingtons and am in northern PA so it’s going to get below freezing quite...

    Transitioning to Coop

Hello! My chicks are 8 weeks old and becoming much too big for their brooder. The coop is finished but is it too early to transition them? I live in the northeast and we should be done with frost but some nights it still goes down to the 50s. They are also the first chickens in the coop, ever...

Picking up chicks 40 minutes away… what do I need?

Hello! First time raising chicks! I pick up my 5 chicks in two weeks (so excited) but I’m realizing - do I need to have a way to give them heat for the ride home? They’re about 40/45 minutes away. Is the car heat enough or should I bring a big cardboard box and something to heat them in there...

    Can you give chicks herbs?

Thank you SO MUCH! This is incredibly helpful! Maybe a silly follow up question, but do they know to go for the grit automatically? Or is that something I need to introduce to them?
