Just got a mixed bunch of hen's. Now I am looking for some Wellsummer Roo's to put with them. I like the looks of them and love hearing them crow in the morning. Looking at my gal's they are a few days to a week old. How much age difference can I get away with easily and how long do I have till...
I was thinking of a cool mist humidifier. With the high humidity air being pulled into the air intake for the bator as needed.
You could use the second PID to monitor humidity. Its the dry bulb wet bulb thing. The bator will stay at a constant air temp 1st PID. The wet bulb temperature reading...
If eggs have an average diameter of 1.75" they would need to roll 2.75" to roll 180 degrees. I am thinking of setting them on top of 1" diameter rollers that run across tray.
Grillo,
Dont think you need to heat water to make the humidity.
Think about this for a second....
Second PID is hooked to a small room humidifier that has its output into the air intake path of bator.
I may have just what I need for a egg turn motor.
I live in a old farm house. I the floor joist above where the old wood/coal furnace was is the "Automatic Janitor". For those that are unfamiliar with this, it was hooked to thermostat in house to open draft on the furnace. They used a piece of...
Jason,
Them look great. Job well done for sure. Them look like they may sit right in the living room and fit right in. I want my bator to do the same.
How long ago did you build them?
I like cool new and neat
I plan to use a SSR (Solid State Relay) off of the PID. This is a insurance measure. If something in heating element should short out or something the SSR will protect the PID.
When I get it done I would like to have something that is every bit or more accurate then...
Try a local junk yard for thermostat, lots of water heaters there.
Most PC fans are 5 or 12 volts DC. If you don't want something else sitting by your bator make sure you get a 110 AC fan.
Just food for thought.
Here is a link to some on Ebay?

I see where most use the wafer type thermostat. This with the "CU50" thermo resistor...
Sorry for your loss.
I do alot of hunting if you check my website link out. Couple of thoughts:
Don't put out any poison unless you are 110% sure nothing but what you want to eat it will eat it.
If its a fisher your pit will have no problem holding his own against it, may get a little scared...
What is the ideal amount to turn eggs per day (Once, Twice... Hourly )?
Does this vary throughout the incubation process?
Most auto turners I have seen tip the eggs one way then the other. Looks to be about 40-45 degrees each side of plum. A hen sitting on the eggs would have them laying flat...
