I'm interested in your hatching eggs. How much would it be to ship a dozen or 2 to Louisiana of a BCM/OE mix where I could get a mix of dark brown eggs and OE laying chicks? Or a half dozen of true OE & BCM shipped. Thanks.
When is your next available dates for BCM & Welsummer hatching eggs? I live in NW LA. Also, do you have any other breeds? I'm looking for a variety to incubate in 2-3 weeks.
In search of hatching eggs to be mailed to Louisiana. Looking for a breeder who has All or most of these hatching eggs available. Blue or Black Copper Marans, Olive Eggers, Crested Cream Legbars, Chocolate Orpingtons, Whiting True Blue and Green, & Blue Andalusians. If replying, please post...
I live in NW Louisiana. I'm in search of these 3 types of Wyandottes. Preferably the BLRW & Lavender Wyandotte. I'm looking for pullets and a couple of cockerels. Any help on local sales or nearby hatcheries would be appreciated. Also, I'm willing to buy online & have them shipped if they are...
Just went out to check on them this morning. And they have been scratching around in all 4 boxes making little nesting spots. So hopefully this will work itself out in the end.
The floor box makes sense though too. I'll put one of those in there in the next day or two for that purpose.
That's what mine are doing. The one hen made a little rounded out spot in the pine shavings directly under the roosts & the next day we had an egg.
But mine were also showing signs of maturity... squatting, big red combs & watts, etc.
Yes easy to get up and down from. Yes, they've checked out 2 of the boxes. Scratched around in them a bit. Covered the golf balls up in 2 of the boxes. There are 2 golf balls in each box. I'll try to take the golf balls out of one box I know they went into already. They have no trouble flying up...
Your right about the weird eggs! We had 3 eggs this morning. 1 was no shell/barely enclosed egg. 1 was rubber shelled. 1 was shelled but cracked. However, they all laid these while they were on their roost last night. I've had the laying boxes open for a few weeks now. I've noticed they've been...
So far so good with her. Feels fine & acts fine. We did get our 1st egg today though! We have a barred rock rooster also. He's coming into maturity along with the hens. They were all raised within a week or two or hatching. I'm thinking now it was just a "misfire" and she'll rewind and restart...
Thanks!
And yes, we are at 110 on the heat index just today here in North Louisiana. Heat is just another every day thing here. So far so good with it. Living in the woods doesn't help the predator situation much on my part either. lol
No, I haven't noticed any egg laying yet from any of them. I check every day in the run and in the laying boxes. Their combs and watts are getting very dark red and have increased in size over past 2 weeks. The ones that are squatting have only been doing it for around 1.5-2 weeks now. She...
My barred rock hen is around 18 weeks old. I have 7 hens now, all getting close to laying. Just no sight of an egg yet. Well, this evening, I reached down and went to pet my barred rock (bc it's funny that she's getting all excited about laying now & squats every time you touch her ) and she...
Well, unfortunately we had to put our hen down today. She stopped eating and drinking again and started getting really weak very quickly. The rest of our flock is still thriving. At least she won't suffer & the rest of the flock will not get what she developed. Thanks for all the help!
