    That could work. I have a couple. When I tried to use them a couple years ago some of the hens freaked out. Haven't tried again, but haven't needed to. It's been hot, but think it will cool down. I may try. Thank you

    Thank you all for the information and pictures. I think it is bruising. It looks like the dog may have had her a few times, judging from the wide trail of feathers, before I found it with her in it's mouth. So not surprised she is bruised. I don't think it smells and will double check tonight...

    Thank you. I'm hoping it is nothing serious. I realized I forgot to add a detail. On the second day I used antibiotic ointment that has pain relief (Pramoxine HCL), before I found out it was harmful to chickens. I'm hoping I didn't cause her more damage.
