Tonight as I was tucking the girls in and collecting the eggs, I found one that did not have a shell??? It was the feel of jelly-fish (kind of) and broke in my hand as I tried to clean it up. I have never had this happen before. What causes this, and is this serious? Is my chicken okay?

Has anyone had any success with getting their chickens to wear these? I bought 1 pair for each of my girls and while they don't take them off they sure do try. They'll keep walking backwards to try to take it off and start flapping around. They don't freak out too much but I can't imagine them...
I noticed that my Dominique, Maggie has been spending some time in the coop this morning. I really didn't give much thought to it at first until I thought about it more. As I was locking them up for the night, I peeked into the coop and there it was right in the nesting box.
