    True, once we had a silkie hen who always slept on the ground right near the coop door (before we locked our chickens up at night) and she got taken. Her son, a bantam as well, died with her trying to save her.

    Very true, we have caught and killed many possums after attacks, or whenever we see them to prevent attacks. They come more for the eggs, but will most definitely kill an easy chicken. At this stage the chicks are still learning, and they sleep on top of our brooder rather than in the coop...

    So pretty! we had a chick like that once. I think she will most likely turn out a little darker than her wing colors (but still pretty light and that golden color) with speckles or lacing.
