Technically they’re his chickens since he bought them but I do most the caring for them so I’m pretty attached to them. Im not sure it’s complicated but I suppose we co-own and since he buys the feed I don’t really have a choice on what to feed them.
Hi so I’m currently stressed again. My dad went out and bought horse food and scratch for the chickens and turkeys to feed them regularly instead of proper feed. No matter how much I persuade him or how much I tell him, he doesn’t listen to me and thinks he’s in the right since he used to have...
HII I bought 2 chicks labeled as Blue Plymouths from TSC about 2 weeks ago and when their feathers started coming in they did not look anything like what they are supposed to. Both chicks have a rose comb, were sold as straight run, and have blue and orange feathers. I searched online and they...
I just came back from work and found my rooster dead. All of my hens are fine as well as my other rooster. When I checked the body he had teeth marks so it was most likely my dog that killed him. My dog hasn’t done anything to the hens before but I’m guessing that the rooster tried to mount one...
It’s him and my other cockerel, but I’ve never seen them fight. They seem to be fine with each other and when I grabbed to check him, my other cockerel even came to see if he was fine and hunt out with him when he was isolating himself. If it’s a case of bullying, my main suspect would be my...
I noticed he had so many black looking dots this morning while feeding the flock. I can’t tell if it’s an infection or disease or if he’s just get bullied by the others. I showed my father and he said it might be smallpox?? The cockerel is isolating himself and staying away from the rest of the...
I know I’m late to reply, but is there any way to get my chickens to start eating their feed? When they were young and ate the chick starter, I could always feel their crops full, but now that I mostly only give them the pellets, they’ve become skinny and aren’t interested in the food unless...
Hi, after reading your reply I got curious of something. How much food should I be offering them in the morning? And should I refill their food in the afternoon, a while before they sleep?
Hi, I’m a new chicken owner. I have 2 chickens that recently started laying eggs, a blue cuckoo maran (?) and a Australorp (?) I got them both at tractor supply when they were chicks and I’m not sure what breed they actually are. They’re both 5 months old. I also have 5 light brahmas (4 months...
