That's where I started 3 years ago. Very nice folks. Our original flock started with 9 of their 8 weeks old pulletts...GC, RIR, WL, EE (THEY CALLED ARACAUNAS). One was sick from the time she was egg laying and died at 1 1/2 years old. Another died this past winter after laying and ovary :(...
Thank you for your replies and pics of your babies. Can anyone else with raising BO contribute. I seem to have a mixed bunch here and would like to see what the odds are? Feel free to post pics of yours around that age.
How would I be able to tell at this age? Only 1 with no red comb or wattles. The other 4 all are very red and have been for about 4 weeks. Bodies are getting larger but not really any larger combs or wattles. I have seen other pics of BO's that looked similar to mine at this age and ended up...
Starting from the back is chick #1 and in order to the front is #5. Which ones are you seeing hackle feathers on? #4 for sure has the hackles and the super red comb.
Can anyone help me sex these BO's? I have 5 in all... ALL but 1 got red wattles early on. I have read lots of post on here about sometimes the hens getting red early. Thats what I'm hoping for but reality tells me differently.

#3 and #4...
