I'm a Seattle, WA, native, born almost dead-center in the city on Capitol Hill.
I met my husband on the second day of our freshman year at the University of Washington. We were introduced in a stairwell and he offered me a graham cracker. Luckily, I was hungry. Married in 1998.
We have two children, currently 17 and 11. Our oldest (son) is prepping for college at our local high school. Our youngest will be starting middle school in the fall of 2019. She is twice-exceptional, both gifted but with learning disabilities and autism (high-functioning). Her elementary Special Ed team has been fantastic in supporting her, allowing her to be "uneven" as we say: both slow in some aspects, but ahead of her age-group in others.
We have two cats and a dog in addition to our chickens. The chickens are getting a new coop this summer. They love to wander up to the back door and stare in the window and wonder why they don't get to live in our house.
