I have an Aussy and a B Giant Jersey, I think the one laying is the JG because her waddle and comb are full and bright red, she is also extremely chubby, and needy. The Aussy does not have full comb and waddle, she is skinnier and not showing any signs of laying yet.
I don't hand feed them, I cut them in half and toss them in the grass outside the run, we have the area fenced in and only let them out when we are out. They absolutely love the grapes and tomatoes
She looks like mine, only mine has a full waddle and crown, or what ever you call that on top of their head. She is the social one, but yesterday she pecked at my hand, I am thinking she wanted some red grapes or tomatoes, I give them these for treats once daily, and I think she wanted more.
We are going to wrap the enclosure soon, as winter is peeking her head in the last few nights. I hope they start laying soon. My JG just started squatting, but my Aussy is not showing any signs of laying. So new to this.
Woohoo! love this thread as I am still waiting for my first egg, getting extremely impatient. Hubby says if they don't start laying soon they will table food :(
No, and I am wondering if this might be a sign she might start laying, I don't know what the signs are, these 2 are my first ever chickens so I am a rookie at all of this. Learning as I go so to speak.
I purchased 2 Aussie pellets, turns out 1 is a BJG. She is getting huge, her waddle and comb are bright red, she has always been the more social one, but lately she just drops to a squat and starts yelling at me, yesterday she started pecking me, any thoughts? I am brand new to raising chickens.
It is the Jersey that just started doing that. The Aussy is a bit chicken, lol, the Jersey is the one that is being loud, dropping or squatting, and she just started pecking at me.
