Mary, that's an awesome coop and so secure. Thank you for the photo. I'll see if I can replicate something like that going forward. I had not considered woven wire but I will now.
Wow, that's something I never thought I'd hear: a pitbull. But my predators were two Bobcats, check out the photo I just posted. I still have 3 lavender Americaunas in the Omlet coop that they are walking around, and I've moved the rooster that survived to the wooden coop in the photo. Neither...
Thank you for all the replies. I put a trail cam up the night after the attack and saw that it was two Bobcats. As McChooky said, it is apparently a classic sign of a Bobcat to bury its kill and return for it. I'm attaching a photo from one of the trail cam avi movies. Hope it's helpful to...
Yes, we have mountain lions but the hole in the kennel bars is probably too small and wouldn't support a mountain lion going through that 6-inch hole. We have bobcats though.
I don't of that particular door. But the squares are equal distance all the way around including on the door very similar to this dog kennel without the shown feeding door. My girls had a Nestera coop inside this dog kennel and whatever it was didn't break into the coop. Two of the welds...
I'm in a rural area of Ramona, Southern California. I wish I knew what predator broke the welds on my large walk-in cage and killed my two girls, but left the rooster. I've never seen raccoons in this area. The girls were beheaded, and one was left in the coop, also with no feet. One chicken was...
I kind of knew this was the answer, but I'm thankful for your response. My stress would be reduced with him gone. When I let him out today, he tried to challenge me again. I took one step forward and he went all spurs and feathers with me. I had a small 1/2 shovel in my hand and knocked him...
Thanks for the advice, I just gotta figure out how to get rid of him. Not sure I can cull him myself. I'll look for a rooster roundup or something similar.
Interesting. How many hens is a good amount? I'm just curious. Not that I would get more now, so in the end, rehoming is probably the best solution. Thanks.
