I have 5 week old chicks. 3 Barred Rock and 3 Rhode Island Red. The weather here is at about 80 degrees during the day and 60 degrees at night. Can I put them outside full time yet?
I just got 1 day old baby chicks this evening. The thermometer says in the warmest spot that it is 92 degrees. Is that warm enough? How could is too cold? All feedback is appreciated.
They can go outside when they are fully feathered. They are usually fully feathered at 8 weeks old. You don't want to put them in with bigger birds because the bigger birds will peck them to death. If you have a heat lamp, they should be fine at night in that cold weather.

If any of them turn out to be roosters, you could get something called a No Crow Collar instead of getting rid of them. It is about $15. When a Rooster crows, his neck expands a lot. The No Crow Collar keeps him from expanding his neck enough to crow. It doesn't stop them from breathing...
