You are most likely correct as I have read other posts supporting what you said however MeepBeep and OlGrayMare made important comments on the previous postings on this thread. I think it is important enough to try.
Thanks
EXCELLENT IDEA! I will use the insulative foam when the eggs were shipped to me, drop them into the holes and candle them with that. Yippee another good idea.

Please call Robbie and discuss this "Research report" with him, I'm sure he could clarify it for us. I believe what he told me because he breeds 12000 quail and must keep accurate records of deformities, efficiency of egg laying and hatching numbers.
lazy gardener, thanks for bringing the "smell" to my attention. This morning I smelled something afoul, hopefully all is OK but like I posted, I will start candling tomorrow morning. This is my first time incubating and feel like an expectant father.
Also, I feel more confidant since you...
Thank you Meep Beep and Ol Grey Mare,
I don't know how long it will take to candle 119 quail eggs but I hope the cold air and humidity change won't harm the eggs.
I will do it as fast as I can.
Thanks again.

Is it imperative to remove non-fertilized eggs from incub? I was thinking of not candling the eggs to avoid violating the integrity
of the incubator - avoiding to remove the top for fear of changing the temperature/humidity. Today is day 8 after setting.
I was going to candle the eggs...
Howdy,
I set my eggs Nov 7th, today is Nov 14th and will start candling my 120 eggs tomorrow (day8).
Is it imperative I discard the eggs that do not candle? I was thinking of not candling the eggs
so that I will not violate the temp/humidity in the incubator by opening the lid of the incubator...
I had the very same question so I phoned Robbie and asked him (1337-257-0118). As far as Coturnix Quail are concerned
Pharoah Quail, He told me you can inbreed 5 times without any problems. Robbie as far as I am concerned is the EXPERT.
YOUR POSTING SAID the fertility drops significantly...
The set temp and Miller therm is still spot on, the only fluctuations I am getting are the humidity readings. But not significant enough to worry about at this time.
I'll start to be more concerned when the humidity is supposed to be higher for embryo development. I have to find out how to...
The Miller thermometer was calibrated with my home thermostat thermometer and it was spot on 68F/68F. I then placed it into my incub. checked an hour later it was spot on with the setting temp at 100F and Miller at 100F, But the indicator for current temp was 99,4F. Last night and tonight...
Hello Howfunkyisurchicken
The only thing I found at petco was the reptile thermometer, the manager checked his computer and found no Hygrometers.
I will check Petsmart tomorrow morning.
I bought another thermometer a "Miller" at a feed store tonight. $5.30 including tax.
Thank you
Hello
Re; Temp guage
Thanks to all for responding. I went to WLMART. Pro Bass Store, Ace Hardware, and a few other stores this morning and all I could find was one at Petco about 1/8 " thick flexible w/o stickems on the bottom. The only other ones I could find are the ones you nail on the...
I called this morning about my unit not giving me accurate temp. readings. The engineering dept is sending me a replacement
part to fix the problem and that he will test it before sending it to me.
Thanks Miller Mftr. Co.
