Thanks for the replies!!! I was told, when I bought the eggs, that they were Jumbo Brown, Texas A&M and Pharoah Quail... The seller appeared very knowledgeable...so I am 99% confident that is what I have... I am now starting to learn how to sex them... I know with bob whites, but, have not dealt...
That one is a pharoah coturnix. Only 3 in that cage... two other cages have 5 Texas a&m and 13 jumbo brown... all have same problem... unknown sex's ...
we havent tried it yet.... but, everyone I have talked to that has says its just like chicken.... im looking forward to getting to the point that we can start processing some :) we just hatched 22... they should start laying in the next week or two... then we can start working on breeding vrs...
sadly, the run next to them was already being used by younger chickens so I had to put her in a box away from them... I did, however, re-introduce her last night.... they are re-establishing the pecking order, but so far dont seem to be picking on the injured part of her neck...so, so far, so...
Thanks for the replies! I decided to wait another day or two... hoping it will finish healing to the point of them leaving that spot alone. Really dont want to have to re-quarantine her another week or two because of the others pecking on that spot too much... would rather let it heal almost...
One of my Hens ended up with an open wound under her ear lobe. The other hens were picking at it so I quarantined her. is this picture good enough to advise if she is ready to return to the flock or should I wait until it is completely 100% healed and gone? or do I need to get a better pic of...
BTW....dont want to "re-invent the wheel" but suck at "finding" AND understanding comprehensive info... so, any and all help appreciated... specifically looking for " for dummy" type stuff...

ok...well, apprently, no one wants newbies around their flock... which, from what i have read about diseases, i really dont blame them... so...lets try this instead.... if you could pick ONE resource to give you the best info to start raising layers... what would it be? website, book, etc...
