    Check for snapping turtles and if they are there remove them all immediately before you get more and more..... There are traps you can build to catch them and then you can release them somewhere far away from your pond. Snapping turtles will hurt the water fowl of any kind.

    Ducks and a natural pond

    There is something you can do about the algae in the water. One of the neighbors used to put something in the water to keep it clear but since he died nobody has bothered. It doesnt hurt the ducks but it takes care of the algae.

    I would make a trap for the turtles except the lake is not attached to my property and everybody has their yards fenced. That's why I made sure the ducks were bigger than the turtles before we released them... They're so big now and I'm so proud. I think I did the right thing but I dont know...
