    Water Belly

I truly appreciate the responses I got here. I will try cutting on the treats specially the chicken scratch in which we even mix with sunflower seeds. I wasn't aware that it causes excessive fats on my layers. The liver of the hen in photos were a little large than ordinary but the color was...

    Water Belly

Thank you for your kind reply. I wasn't able to take photos of the heart and liver but it seems like her liver was bigger than the ordinary. The heart size is okay if I remembered it right. My husband is the one who cut her because I can't do it myself. These chickens are like pets to me but I...

    Water Belly

I didn't cut her myself. I asked my husband to do it and took a deep breath to get courage to check what's really wrong with her. We buried her in the back of our farm. These chickens need decent burials. And it helps with the ecosystem, I guess?

    Water Belly

I have the same issue with my laying hens. I lost 2 or 3 recently. We made a necropsy on the second one that died because we were curious if it was egg binding. But it is not. The abdomen was thick of yellow layer of fat it looks like. So when this last one hen had the same issue, I researched...

PLEASE HELP! Is this normal molting?

😂😂😂 I wasn't able to wait for your reply 😂😂😂 I already ordered some cat food 16lb bag. It has 30% protein and will try giving them for treats. I know right, my small dog loves my cat's wet food but from what I read is not good for the dogs but like you said, they were perfectly fine after...

PLEASE HELP! Is this normal molting?

Any dry cat food will do the job? Or is there a certain brand I need to get? I didn't know that cat food is good for extra protein needed because my husband laughs at me before when I gave them the leftover cat food when my cat got lost and never came back.

PLEASE HELP! Is this normal molting?

😂😂😂 yep! It really is exhausting but I enjoyed seeing them happy when they see me. I treat them like pets and family lol. I don't want to see them hurting and tried to give everything they need. It's hard work but rewarding. I have nobody to rely on to treat and take care of them the way I do. I...

PLEASE HELP! Is this normal molting?

Oh yeah! That's what exactly they look like. I just can't take a better photo and always forget to bring my phone when I go to the coop because I do all the hard work cleaning and feeding them every single day. I have 7 big coops to tend and 2 smaller like 6' x 10' coops for my quails too that I...

PLEASE HELP! Is this normal molting?

I separated the roosters from the affected flock but still have 1 roo for every 12 hens. Barred rock cage separated and white leghorn cage are al separate. These hens in photos are just some of them and they are in a separate coop which is like 10' x 12' in size. The main coop where the other...

PLEASE HELP! Is this normal molting?

It started with a rooster and eventually he died and left the hens molting. It is becoming worse and did all I can to treat them. Gave them vitamins and minerals, changed their feed to more nutritious feed, used feather fixer feed, used food grade DE powder thinking that it might be mites but...

    Hens flying over gate

You might try clipping their wing feathers into which they cannot fly higher if that would be possible. Some chickens are high flyers specially leghorns and I clipped some of mine and they got contained inside their coop.

    Fowl pox or something else?

Thank you so much for the helpful info and insight. I wasn't able to take pictures when he had it first before I removed the scabs bcoz what I had in mind is to clean it so he can feel better. But before I removed it, I did some research and did preventive measures so the other chickens will not...

    Fowl pox or something else?

This is Chuckie, a silkie bantam rooster. No other chickens like him so I separated him in my backyard/pool area so he can graze and be happier. He can't fly over the fence so he is all good where he is. Until one day, I noticed some crusts on his head but they just look like dirt on his wattle...
