Hmmm... I left them under the hen but i've taken them to the incubator this morning. They are still doing exactly the same thing even all this time later.
I should add, today is day 22 and these are bantams which I've done before... they typically hatch day 19 or 20.
Hello,
I have some eggs under a hen which were sent through the post but they have detached air cells. I have candled last night and this morning to see one of them pecking to try and get into the air cell. BUT! This morning it is now well pressed against it but i can see the air cell just...
Another question! My eggs have arrived.... never had this before but there is quite a significant difference in size despite them being from the same breed. A few a a good bit bigger than the hen's own eggs which she is sitting on at the moment. Will she still sit on them when I swap them even...
I'm going to have to wait a few days on the fertile eggs arriving anyway so she'll have a couple more days to prepare hopefully! Pecking shouldn't be a problem... she is crazy tame. I patted her this morning to see if she made the typical broody noise but nope... just looked at me wondering why...
Thanks for all the replies! I may just have to lift her because she is so tiny that even my hand under her will lift her right up anyway haha! She is only in with one other tiny hen at the moment and she is also trying to be broody (not doing well... sits for a day then craves attention so has...
Hello!
I have a 2 year old belgian bantam ( known for being good mamas!) who has been sitting on her eggs for 3 days now. I would love to swap them for some fertile ones but I'm worried that if I disturb her, she might give up since she is new at this and I only have a limited number of fertile...
I think its a girl! After much waiting, there is no sign of a comb or wattles at all. Still doesn't get on with any other chickens tho... very much a mummy's chick haha! I will try and get a pic soon if she will stand still long enough!
No wattles yet! But one thing is that its quite aggressive when you first go in the pen... s/he likes to attack my hand! It's quite cockerel like behaviour but then I wonder could that be to do with being a single chick. I thought the same... that the head looked like a pullet but I just hope...
I'd love to have given my thoughts but it would be a guess! Mine are looking very similar to yours in the picture above and I just am not sure yet what they are. I reckon one weighs a good bit more than the other and it also has a slightly more red comb...
I have only got a pic of the one I...
Hi guys! Thanks for all the replies. Thats the chick now 3 and a half weeks old so I thought I'd post a couple of pic again. I will try to post a few along the way until I know for sure if its a boy or girl!
The sexing will be extra hard..... because its a frizzle! So I reckon that crest shape...
Okay! So she was at the vets last night. Fortunately since Saturday the amount of time spent gargling went down :thumbsup but I took her anyway just to be sure.
She was given wormer, just incase it happened to be gapeworm. She also got 10 days worth of antibiotics as well as an...
