    Great info and Thanks for sharing! I have an old bathtub, outside, I am using for some red wigglers for composting and feed. It is nice to see the breakdown of just what they do for my girls.

    Shawna, I was thinking that maybe the store where you purchased was not keeping them warm enough since so many (a quarter of their stock) had pasty bum. If you are not sure of them being warm enough at home I would get a thermometer and place it at ground level where your chicks are kept. Off...

    I would be more particular in pickin baby chickens. A little leery that a quarter of their stock had pasty bum. To me that would be a warning sign. And would think that maybe they are not being kept warm enough. I think you did the right thing cleaning them tho. Just my 2cents.
