I find they don't really mind being moved out of the nest box if they're like this. They'll struggle a bit in the box but once they're out they'll just start looking for food. Same goes for hens that are sitting on eggs for a while after laying but aren't broody.
I don't have any pure New Hampshires but a couple of crosses with Australorps. They started around 20 weeks or so like a lot of hens.
