    Poor Ventilation/Below Freezing temps

Hi all! So our coop does not have vent slots in it, and some of my single combed girls are starting to get frostbite. I live in very Northern Minnesota, and it’s been getting below -10 most nights. And it’s going to get colder. (I was spoiled as a kid and my dad built my coop- so we didn’t think...

    Blood on egg shell

Thank you! I was worried there 😅 I never thought she would lay because of her wry neck as a chick, so I’m super stoked!

    Blood on egg shell

Good afternoon ya’ll, these came from my first time layer (one of these was her first egg.. so 1,2, &3 is my guess) Should I be concerned here? Looks like the hopefully most recent egg is clean- she was my chicken with wry neck, and it’s been 2 months since my other hens have started laying so...

    Very weird stool yesterday…

Hi! I don’t know if you got this figured out, but I hope your chickie is okay! I learned recently that you can test if it’s blood or not- apparently if you feel the poop (you can wear gloves) and it feels more solid and is continuous it’s just the intestinal lining, you can also put the poop in...

    Ear Infection?

Thank you for the insight, I really appreciate it!

    Ear Infection?

I believe it’s a bacterial infection, her ear canal is enlarged and the lobe is swollen. It had crusty yellow and some pasty white deeper in. I followed the directions about the Q-Tip and when I did the hydrogen peroxide it bubbled- which I think confirms it’s bacterial. I think I caught it...

    Ear Infection?

I’m assuming it’s normal for her to scratch her ear a ton after I put the ointment on?

    Ear Infection?

Not sure what’s wrong with my 14 week old Americana. Her ear is all out of wack, but the other side is just fine. She eats and drinks water, just does head shakes every so often. Any recommendations on how to treat this would be awesome- no vet in the area for chickens. Thanks!

    Advice on Mobile Chicken Run

Hello everyone, My boyfriend and I are currently renovating our trailer coop. We’d like to make a run that is also mobile. My concerns are how will a mobile run protect the hens? We are in the sticks and see eagles, hawks, foxes, bears, etc. all the time. We want the mobile run considering we...

    cull decision. PLEASE GIVE OPINIONS.

I’d suggest doing what Debbie292d is saying! My 3 week old chick had wry neck, which is a neurological issue- since starting this Vitamin and egg regimen, her neck isn’t twisting (only sometimes when I pick her up she gets squirmy) So I’d 100% recommend it as well! Keep doing it until she is...

    The Wry neck came back!

Okay awesome, thank you!! I was also surprised by the commenter on the other post saying a week- but okay, 3 weeks.. I’ll keep at it and hope for the best! Thank you for being specific on how much a day I should give her with the Vitamins and eggs! I will grab some Poultry Cell before I head out...

    Sneezing chicks

Yes, keep them apart! You do not want to have your entire flock sneezing.

    Sneezing chicks

My chicks have been sneezing too with the same symptoms. Not sure how yours are doing now, but I have been putting 1-2 drops of VetRx between their shoulder blades. It doesn’t cure anything, just helps with the symptoms! I’d give it a try if you can get some of it. Your feed store should have some!

    The Wry neck came back!

Hello everyone! Not great, so my 2 week old Americana’s wry neck came back- when I thought I had kicked it in the butt. A day ago I saw her neck was starting to really turn again. I was reading some other posts about what to do, saw one about using liquid Vitamin B complex and gel Vitamin E...

    Bawk bawk chickens rock

Hello! I have owned chickens since I was 11! I am 23 now, but hey, every year there’s something new to learn. I am new to this website, so I am excited to ask lots of questions, rather than relying on a search engine that’s going to use ai to generate answers 😅 I have my four 2 week old chicks...
