    Call Duck Color ID

I'm going to have to say he's a splash/silver with the rust gene and pied. Splash, or silver is what you call two copies of the blue dilution gene on a black bibbed base color. Similarly, your hen is a blue bibbed, yes. One copy of the blue dilution gene on a black bibbed based color

    Black Swedish hatchling crosses

Perhaps they weren't black swedish, but a cross between a rouen and a pekin. That would result in a black bibbed bird that carries the gene for white and wild type colors

Would this mallard be considered dusky in color?

Holy cow, that's amazing! I also noticed this particular drake was kinda petite compared to the two others, and wasn't much bigger than the hen in the group. Considering the genetic factors and the size, I'm thinking it's a possibility that this bird may have call duck genetics

Would this mallard be considered dusky in color?

I saw this group of mallards while on a walk, and one stuck out to me due to its color. I then noticed it lacks the brown and neck ring, and thought, that looks like the dusky gene! But then I saw the blue speculum and reconsidered. I looked online at dusky domestics, and the drakes have darker...

Duck has mucus buildup in nostrils and whistling breath

Another thing, their drinking bowl is stainless steel. Wouldn't the apple cider vinegar cause metal to get into the water?

Duck has mucus buildup in nostrils and whistling breath

Yes, she's able to have deep water from the bowl (2 gallons) or the pool (55 gallons) all the time exept in the coop at night. The vet is an option, it would be preferable to treat it at home though

Duck has mucus buildup in nostrils and whistling breath

8 month old female Call cross has had a whisle in breathing out of the nostrils for the past week approximately, and today noticed mucus blockage in nostrils and was breathing out of bill. Seems to be able to dislodge the dried mucus in water, but still has a whistle. Otherwise is perfectly...

Does the rainbow gene breed true in platy fish?

I'm wondering if the rainbow color in platies can breed true. I always assumed they were a cross of red and blue, if that were the case, wouldn't they throw solid blue and solid red offspring when breeding Rainbow x Rainbow?

Mana Pro non medicated chick starter scent.

I purchased a bag of mana pro chick starter yesterday. I have before, but not smelled it specifically, but I smelled this batch, and it smells like a sweet smell. Otherwise looks normal. Safe to feed?

    Type of Duckling

Because it was outside, as well as the pied markings and large talons, I'd say muscovy.

    Is this a barred rooster?

Definitely looks male to me, and the color of the legs as well as the mis-matched bars, suggests this is a Cuckoo Marans.

What is the color of this platy fish called?

This is a male platy I picked up at a pet store a month or two ago, haven't seen one quite like it. There were some mixed bred looking platies in the same tank. Yellow obviously, but has blueish undertones, and a purple-blue irredecent on the tail, and the yellow itself is irredecent. The...

This may sound strange, but has anyone ever grown a garden for their ducks??

I've grown Tomatoes for my ducks, they go right up and pluck the fruit. I have a theory that because of their ultraviolet vision, they can tell when a green tomato is just about to begin ripening as they would eat some green ones, but noticeably ignore most of the others. Mine also like to eat...

    Healthiest chicken breeds

From my experience, and read from others, Production reds aren't a healthy type.
