    Swollen foot on Rooster

Looks like he might have bumblefoot. I know that you can search this site or the net to learn how to treat it at home or you can have your vet take a look at it. Either way definately needs to be treated. Hope this helps!

Suggestions for a muddy backyard chicken run.

Well I'm not an expert but we had to put in a floor for part of the covered run and placed hay on top of the boards for easy clean up. This way the girls could have some dry area when it is the rainy season and when things dry out they can still utilize the full run. Malynda

    Intergrating new chicks with RIR...

Hi All! I have a question on combining my 11 wk old chicks (2 sapphire gems, 2 buffs, 2 barred rocks) to my (5) 1 yr old RIR's. They were raised in an 'in coop' brooder and are doing well. To start the intergration we put in 'windows' so each could see each other but not touch. After a...

    5 chickens.....1 egg a day???

So I have the commercial feed ( I get layer crumble from my local feed store since its limited on whats near me) that I leave out all day for them so that way they all get a chance to eat since BabyMama has a tendancy to hog the feeding dish. Then at night I just bring them out a plate of...

    5 chickens.....1 egg a day???

Hello! I have a question about my chickens and egg laying. I have 5 RIR's that are 21 wks old and only one is laying. About one egg every day and its a little on the small side but good form and good shell and even color. I determined that the one that's doing the laying is the dominate one...

6 1/2 week old chicks noisy at sun-down

H! I have 10 wk Rhode Island Reds, 5 of them, and they are all noisy when the sun starts to go down and do the whole looking up thing until I bring them inside (we have to redo their outdoor coop). I still leave a night light on for them (just no heat lamp) since they will freak out if there...

Beautiful coop and thank you for some ideas of using chicken wire on the inside. I live in Oregon and we have all kinds of predators like you do. Great Job and love the roo cave!!!

HA! I knew they were trying to train me! LOL My house temp runs right at about 70 degrees and they are doing a mixture of both roosting and piling...at night they roost and during the day they pile (my coworker says they are 'special')...They do sleep at night but do get up for the occasional...
