    EE Half Dozen

Edit: More pics added! Beta is the paid actor. Isys is the striped in front of the xylophone, and is the suspicious one. Original: Week and a half-ish update! (Meyer hatchdate 4/7) Not the best image from the baby monitor, I haven’t had a chance to handle them individually today. But the...

    EE Half Dozen

I apologize if I took your comment incorrectly. In all of my online communities, quoting someone, and then using the popcorn emoji, implies that you’re waiting to watch the show that’s about to unleash. However, I did say I was transferring them from the temporary brooder to their permanent one...

Love how you changed my actual words to fit your idea of entertainment.

    EE Half Dozen

Just wanted to share a picture of our babies! This is from their first day home (we’re on day 3 now and they aren’t all together or still enough for a picture). All EE, all supposed to be pullets. The dark one in the back is the boss and has fondly been named General. The rest are pending. I...

    Aggression in Young Chick

I appreciate the input, thank you! My biggest concern is just her injuring the other chicks. She just grabs the eye and doesn’t seem to let go. I have noticed she will just stand on top of the feeder and go after a anyone who approaches, which looks like resource guarding, but there’s plenty of...

    Aggression in Young Chick

The lamp is about 24” from the ground, and there’s about 2 feet that is away from the lamp, which is around 70°. The bumper is far enough from the lamp, secured, and completely cool to the touch.

The area immediately beneath the red light is 90°. The smaller box in front is where I have temporarily separated the offending chick.

    Aggression in Young Chick

Hello! My 6 chicks just arrived earlier today and we have them all set up. Everyone is happy and content, minus one chick who is constantly going after the others’ eyes - they cry and run away, and she just keeps at them. They’re supposed to be less than a week old (supposedly a day) easter...

    Hello!

Hello! It’s been a while since my family kept chickens, so I’m excited to get plugged in for some insight and expertise! 1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? My family kept chickens when I was a child, and my grandfather kept a full yard of poultry until the last few...
