Looks about like the one we got today.... Inside, it was basically non-formed. Just a little whitish yolk.

Oh man! What a terrible thing to happen! Not much we can do except sympathize with you. We are raising our first flock of 21 and I can't imagine losing them all!

Ok, we've made our decision. We are going to wait until Max is fully grown and then we will re-think this major decision. We just want to say 'thanks' to everyone who commented. We know you are doing your best to advise us well, and you did! Max says, "whew."

I have to admit, that was the most heartbreaking thing I've done in a long time. One kennel had 3 of the most beautiful lab-looking siblings that were 5 or 6 months old. The pound keeper said they were going to be euthanized the following week if nobody took them. I wanted to bring them ALL home.

p.s. we think Max is about 6 months old at the end of January. We have been told he was Anatolian/Pyr/SB - all I can say is, whatever he is, it's a great mix!

Great article - lots to think about there. Our property is fenced, but like most farm fences, they're no match for a clever dog.

Thanks for the opinion. We actually got Max from a pound. I can't imagine him being put to sleep because there wasn't anybody to adopt him and I don't want to contribute to that situation for another animal either.
