Where did you all get your blue wyandottes? I had one who was so very loving but died suddenly at the age of 2 (vet found cancer in necropsy). I miss seeing her every day. She was the most beautiful in my flock. I can't find anyone who sells them less than 15 a minimum order. I would like to get...
Spade and Feather in Canada - will also ship to the US. Unfortunately, I had to order in such bulk, that I am going to have too many and going to have to list some on ebay in the US just to get rid of the excess, as I have less than ten chickens. So far, I can't find the pliers needed to put...
This is what I got! I think you found a cheaper source than I did, though. (Except I got the smallest one that holds 11 lbs of feed - but there are only two hens in that flock, so it's perfect.) If this works well for us, I will need a second one for my other flock anyway, so I'm saving this...
After doing some research on these things, having the same concerns many of you do about the top opening treadle feeders, I looked at the two main options available in the US for front/inward opening treadle feeders. My issues with them were that 1- I didn't like the ramp on the more affordable...
This is just about the rudest reply I have ever seen, and makes me want to find an alternative product. I came here today to research these feeders, and your reply has really put me off. You can make these same points without being rude.
I looked up depluming mites, and the ivermectin (oral) would have gotten them. So basically, my chickens have been treated for mites and worms. However, I did some more digging and found that it's possible that where they had pecked or been pecked could have either gotten bacterial or fungal...

They have been to the vet multiple times. Are these mites something my vet could be missing? They have also been treated with ivermectin for worming - dosing from the vet for each bird based on individual weight. I was thinking that ivermectin also dealt with a lot of topical parasites...
I have read just about every "bald butt" thread on here, and cannot find information that I am seeking. I know there are options like bumper bits to stop feather pecking, but my group of 7 have now been in the habit of pecking each others' butts for so long that I feel the best option is to...
Actually, everyone was wrong about mine. It took weeks of feeding Exact, but she FINALLY got the hang of it. And when all of my other chicks got ill with coccidiosis, she did not. It turns out she IS the fittest now. So don't give up.
Earlier in the week, I received 4 day old babies from Meyer. I went to another town to get them from the p.o. distribution center a day earlier than they would have arrived here, so I could give them a good start. My little wyandotte was clearly not as strong as the others. Eyes were half closed...
The only thing she has eaten so far today, really, is oyster shell. Yet, there's not a thing wrong with her eggs...I can't figure it out. She's very lethargic, and only pecks at the oyster shell. She was not interested in the mashed potatoes I just offered her, either. I am thinking of giving...
