I have a janoel 24 and I love it! My hatches - we have done 3, have been really good. The last one was the worst because our air conditioner died and everything got super hot. A week later the electricity went out - those poor babies! We ended up with 13 out of 24 and I thought that was a miracle!
Wow, it really has been a busy time! Today is finally day 21, but I only have 3 that haven't hatched yet - but they have pipped so it won't be long!
First little lady came only 12 hours after lockdown! She was all by herself for almost 24 hours - it was hard to watch her be so lonely! Pecking...
I am just finishing my first hatch!
I had purchased the Janoel24 before doing a whole lot of research. After looking at the dismal instructions that were sent, I really wasn't as optimistic as before. I decided to use factory settings as just see what happened. My eggs were just from my own...
Amber I just saw - how did things go? Did you help?
I got home from a workshop and had seven little lovelies!
But I also had one that had started to zip, stopped for some reason and no movement - no matter how much I "peeped" at her or played the chicks chirping from you tube.
Still waiting...
Mine pipped on the underside also and it was extremely hard to see anything. I chose to leave mine be and she did fine. The shell had a perfect little zip and everything was absorbed.
Unfortunately, she is still by herself! :(
I am learning patience - sort of.
I have very little experience...
Thanks so much!
Day 19 and out of 24, 14 went into lockdown and the first little lady has already made her entrance!
Now to be patient for everyone else. Ha - I think I will run to town because otherwise I may go crazy!!!
How long should I wait before I put her in the brooder? Should I give her a full 24 hours or no?
And I do realize that people's opinions are different but that is what I love about this place! I get to hear all thoughts and then do what makes sense to me. :)
Thanks so much!
