    New Chicks & Pine Shavings

    I got 7 chicks from my local hatchery on saturday, not knowing any different I put them on pine saw shavings......My chicks seem to be doing great Eating, drinking jumping around, they loved the spikes I gave them........My brooder is small, but cozy maybe I just got good stock?

    i gave my baby chicks a moth

    I do alot of ice fishing so I have mousies, spikes, and bee mothes most of the winter. My 9 yr old daughter gave the chicks a few to start w/ then ended up giving a hole dozen to them...........They loved them...Great protien

    Do I need to add some kind of "grit" to their food or is there something in the starter mix to take care of that? I got my starter from a friend and there is no literature as to whats in it??!!

    Wish I could get some goats, here in Elkhart, IN you have to have 5+ acres to have livestock....... Maybe what they dont know wont hurt them

    I'm going to assume this is a good source of protien, and also a good source of grit if you pulverize the shells??!
