Broad breasted hen
My stupid Tom decided to try to mount my hen. Both are white broad breasted. In doing so, he tore open her side. I didnt find out until hours later. I know I need to stop her suffering but I'm wondering if it's ok to butcher her to eat or could possible infection be started making it unsafe to...- mandykern10

Something attacted my flock
My OWN dog killed one of my buff Orpingtons yesterday. By the time I saw him, he had a second one in his mouth, shaking it. I ran out and he let her go and jumped back out of the run. don't feel bad. I bought 14 HENS and have ended up with 4 roos, so far. We can't have roos so we have a nice lady, in a more rural area that takes them and we give them to her for free.We also pulled all of our 6 RIR's out of the "pullet bin"...lol- mandykern10

I thought so. Then I'm for sure he was in the pullet bin at the feed store. There were 6 that were pulled from straight runs, we got 2 roos out of those and 4 from pullet bins, with 1 being a roo now. I have 2 turkeys I'm trying to sex as well.
