I have been noticing that my mottled to mottled breeding chicks turn white and fade faster than my mottled to solid chicks.Have any of you found this to be true? Would this make it preferable to breeding mottled to solid over mottled to mottled even though you will get some solid chicks?
They are out of mille fleur hens and a partridge rooster. I have a calico rooster but he was not old enough to breed. I love the darker colors from the partridge but did not know if they were officially calicos or not. They are multi-colored and not just a solid with mottling so I was not sure.
I hatched this bantam cochin chick out of a pen that had mixed colors. What color would you think it could turn out to be? It has a blue-ish body with a bright golden yellow head. I have two of these one is paler.
