    Best vs Worst coop bedding?

Pine shavings are my favorite. I use it in the run. I use sand in their coop and use a poop scoop to clean it out every day!

My Rooster has slightly red legs and neck. Not sure what is doing on.

Featherfoot is doing so much better :) I applied Blu-cote to his neck and the chickens are NOT bothering it at all. I also started my chickens on flock. :)

Makes total sense! Thanks again! You have been very helpful. Thank you! I bought my chickens flock and have set up their oyster shell in a separate feeder. Thank you, again, for your advise.

Hi! Thank you! My coop is 50 inches long, 52 1/2inches wide and 72 1/4 inches high. My run is 16 feet long and my chickens free range during the day. I don’t think the size of the coop and run are an issue. Do you think my rooster issue is from not having adequate space? Thanks!

My hens are all laying now. Are you saying that I should switch to all flock and offer oyster shells in a separate feeder? Thanks!

Thank you for your response. I currently have a coop and run that is made for 10 chickens but I only have 5. I wasn't sure if the chickens were pulling out featherfoot's neck feathers but saw them pecking his neck. I did post this to the Emergency Forum per your advice. Thank you for that!!!

I have noticed my 7-month-old Light Brahama rooster's legs are becoming a little red and I am closely watching this. No bleeding His neck feathers were being pulled out by the chickens a few weeks ago (I think it was the chickens but didn't actually see them pull out the feathers, just saw them...

I am new to BackYard Chickens and am thoroughly enjoying exploring this very informative site! I have 5 chickens and 1 rooster. My chicken was originally named Emmy Lou, but became Feather Foot after we learned our chicken was a rooster :) We love him and admire the way he protects his flock...
