    VERY Aggressive Rooster: Please Help!

Problem solved, our kind neighbor farmer came and picked him up this weekend and will be enjoying some rooster soup. I was so sick of him I didn’t even care to eat him. So grateful for all the support! Thanks all!

    Missing Feathers in Frigid Weather

One of my hens has lost a chunk of feathers on her back thanks to our rooster. The rooster is now out of the picture, but there’s a 2-3’ circle of fully exposed skin on her back and it is FRIGID here in the northeast. -10° this morning. Her back is red, understandably, and is most definitely...

    VERY Aggressive Rooster: Please Help!

Even if they’re free range? Mine seem a little naive. So sweet, and I’m not sure how “street smart” they are when it comes to predators lurking about. Maybe I should give them more credit?

    VERY Aggressive Rooster: Please Help!

I’ve been dealing with an increasingly aggressive rooster in my flock for coming on 6 months now. I deeply value the role he plays, particularly in that he’s been an exceptional protector for our free range hens. Knock on wood we haven’t lost a single one (or had so much as an injury) in the...
