We are thinking about it. We do own our house, but it is currently not in our best interest to move. But we do have to downsize eventually now that our 5 kids are gone and on their own. When we do, it will be in an agriculturally zoned area.
Oh wow! I wouldn't think to have them indoors. I've heard of dog diapers for when they are in heat, but I've never heard of chicken diapers. Thanks for the info.
I heard back from my county commissioner, and unfortunately, she said no. We have to be agriculturally zoned and have at least 1 acre. We have the acre, but we are residentially zoned. Bummer! This looks like such a fun support group!!
I know your post is old, but it popped up when I did a search. I am in Lehigh Acres also and was wondering if it is legal to have chickens now. Someone told me you can have up to 12, but no rooster. I need to check with the county to see if that's true.
