Thanks so much for your advice! Does anyone have experience with plants in their coop? I’m not sure how to go about that yet, but I was thinking of adding some raised beds about two feet off the ground and nailing it to a post.
I currently have only two chickens, a hen and a rooster, but I hope to get more. Currently, my coop is a 4x4 house and 4x10 run. I want to extend the run and add more accessories for the coop, cause right now it’s just their feeder, water, and a tire with dirt and leaves in it. Any ideas?
I love it! I’m sure your birds will too.☺️ I don’t have much advice, but for my coop we basically cut a few squares into the wall and added screening anda little swinging door to open and close it. It’s simple but it works great! We added two on opposite walls so the air can flow through both...
Thank you so much, I cleaned his eyes out with wet q tips since we don’t have any saline and underneath his good eye he can see perfectly fine. However, the stuff in his good eye keeps coming back even after I cleaned it out and I don’t know what to do or what’s wrong. I can’t see any scratches...
His poop is very liquidy and even though I’ve tried giving him some of his favorite treats, he won’t eat unless I hold him. I’m about to feed him again but I hope that once I get him in the coop my hen will lead him to food. Thank you🤍
Here are pictures of his right and left eye today… I came home to find his right eye covered in this white stuff. I’m about to wipe it off with a wet paper towel (gently). Nothing was wrong with this eye before, I don’t know why this is happening. Im going to put him back in the coop tomorrow...
I’m planning on only keeping the half blind one since he is a favorite and is the last one living from my original flock in 2020. Thank y’all so much for the advice and I will update if anything changes. Again thank you so much!
I don’t know much about ducks but just to be sure is the heat lamp too hot? If the ducks are panting like you said it could be that they are just too hot from the lamp. If they are avoiding the lamp they are most definitely overheated, even just slightly.
I’m not very educated in this, but I don’t think she should go back to mama and her siblings just yet. They could peck at the scabbed area and make it worse. If the area is scabbed over and she is eating and drinking normally, she’ll l probably heal on her own and I would just add some neosporin...
I also don’t think he’s in shock, since he’s crowing and walking around. He even attempted eating on his own yesterday, but I think he can’t see his food very well with only one eye.😵💫
Thank you! I’m trying to add a picture of his eye right now. When I checked this morning it looks like it’s starting to scab over because it has a bunch of funky stuff around it. I don’t have any saline yet but I sprayed it with water to try and wash some of it out and then applied a LOT of...
I am so sorry this happened! My rooster got attacked recently and I’m worried he will go through the same process. However, even though these animals have a much shorter memory they still need time to grieve. I would say to take care of him like he’s in a nursing home- make sure he gets feed and...
For almost a year now, I have had two roosters living in the same pen, a father and son. The older (and bigger) one has been bullying his son and putting him in his place, yet today I walked out to find the tiny rooster speckled in blood and mud while my big rooster was hiding in the house...
