Photos of a few of my bunch, now that they're a few days old.
Barnyard Cross #1 - Lovely little feathered legs (father is supposedly a Black Copper Marans, though probably not to SOP) and one of the quietest of the bunch
Barnyard Cross #2 - Slightly less feathered feet, but a lot of white...
I'm so sorry yours passed, but glad it had a peaceful end. I'm sure there's an argument to be made for culling straight away, but I prefer to give them a chance, if there is a chance.
Fingers crossed for the rest of your first group to do well!
Thank you both so much! It was a fun first go (as an adult, my parents would've done hatches back when I was young), and my husband enjoyed it a lot. The timing/rate of hatch was very interesting. The first chick hatched at about 4:00 pm on the day, and then we didn't get another one until about...
I think we're done with hatching!
Of the 13 eggs scheduled to hatch, 11 have hatched. Unfortunately, the little guy in the cracked egg failed to internally pip, although he was fully developed. That one hurt a bit, I feel so bad for them. The egg was actually rocking back and forth moving last...
The first one hatched about 10 minutes ago! And it was not any of the four that had pipped last night. The four that pipped are all closing in on 24 hours now, so I'm hoping all the cheeps from their buddy will encourage them.
Look at how cute they are! Fingers crossed for lots more out today.
I managed to get to sleep last night and woke up to lots more pips! I don't think the poor guy in the cracked shell is going to make it; he's one of the ones that hasn't pipped.
But 11 of the 14 have pipped, so I'm pleased...
I have my first (external) pips! Two of the smallest Cream Legbar eggs have pipped in the last few hours, as has one of the larger ones.
The photo of all the eggs is from when lockdown started two days ago, not from today. It's two of the little guys on the left that have pipped so far, plus...
Thank you both very much for the insight, and I know that you're both right--my anxiety just calms a bit when I check and see there's still movement, but that's for my benefit and not for his. :) Is there any concern with the fact that the cracks (and therefore wax) go over the air sac? My worry...
Fingers crossed for your 10 that are looking good, I hope they all do well!
And thank you and everyone else who posts development photos anywhere on the forum. Mine are all well past the initial stage, of course, but when I was doing my day 7 and day 10 candlings with just the flashlight on my...
Thank you both very much, I'm trying to relax a bit... It was just horridly unfortunate timing, really.
The little guy inside the broken egg is still showing a bit of movement this morning, and veins around the side of the air bubble are clearly visible (I can't see much more than that because...
Haha, I love him! I had to write a Christmas play for my little kindergarten students when I lived in Japan, and I used FFIX music for all the background music--Steiner's Theme was one that got a huge number of compliments from the other teachers. They hadn't realized the music was from a game...
I've done Final Fantasy IX stained glass! Just Garnet and Freya so far, but any time anyone says they like IX, I have to mention it.
FFX was actually the game that got me into console gaming (as opposed to handheld), so it holds a special place in my heart, but I just love FFIX so much.
What do you like? I'm a huge fantasy nerd, so my favorites are obviously colored by that, but I love Final Fantasy X (Final Fantasy IX is also excellent; it's a PS game but will work just fine on the PS2). Other good fantasy RPG games from that generation would include Suikoden III, Valkyrie...
