Layer feed or all flocks for non-mixed flock?

Hi, I’m having trouble with my girls (4 of them, 2.5 yrs) not eating much of the Chewy purchased Kalmbach Henhouse Reserve 17% protein “organic”. I had switched from Nutrna Nature Wise Harvest Blend 18% protein in the winter. Which I think they ate more of. So, in reading these comments it...

    Broody girl

Hi, I have a RIR that’s been broody for nearly a month. (There’s no rooster). I’m so tried of this. I guess the other three stopped laying because she’s been so ornery. Is that why? And they were doing so well.I mean I waiting all winter. Grr. How can I snap her out of this. She IS laying one...

    Winter molting-

Oh, and my molting girl is still kinda wimpy. Doesn’t want to wander around like the others (I don’t blame her with it below freezing out there during the day). She is getting her feathers tho, slowly. I feed her separately and I’ve upper their protein all around. Maybe that’s why the egg 🤔.

    Winter molting-

It got down to -2 and I didn’t put in any lights or additional heat. I just closed off most of their door but left some ventilation at the top. There’s four and they did ok. Several more days of not getting above 25 during the day but sunny. The nights are still around 10 degrees. AND, lo and...

    Winter molting-

My girl that was sick got better and is all good. But now she’s “decided” to molt, and it’s been in the 20’s. Gonna get to sub temps at night in a couple days. There’s four girls and they keep each other warm in a very well insulated coop. But I’m thinking I should hang a bulb just for some...

    Winter molting-

I’m still feeding layer grain thru the winter so I think she’s getting enough protein. Marti5 In the Brooder Id send a picture but they’re sleeping now and it’s snowing. It’s been from 40 to 19 (at night) then back to 40 for a month. The average daytime temp is 42-38. She does have the typical...

    Winter molting-

A picture. They’re sleeping now and it’s snowing. I can get some tomorrow tho. She does have the typical molting look like the others did. But she HAS had a bare underbelly for months. I thought it was from the wooden 2x2 I have for their roosting perch. My two Delawares have never had great...

my chicken has diarrhea, a flopped over comb

Hi, I got her to eat some softer cook egg last night, some watered down plain Greek yogurt, and some electrolytes. She drank a lot of water all afternoon before I fed her these things. Fingers crossed she’s had some change for the better in the morning. Thanks!

Colorado. It’s been in the 20s at night. She’s 1.5 yrs old. She is the only one still popping out an egg every few days. But none over the past four. She has never molted. She is however missing feathers on her underside. I’ve sent pics and other info but I don’t see them on the web site under...
