I got my first egg today!! The hen didn't use the nest boxes but it was just sitting on the floor after work today! It was pitch black and I had quick look too see the turkeys and hens were in and there it was!!
I thought they wouldn't lay till next year especially as it's so dark and how short...

I notice that a lot of people don't hang their turkeys like a game bird,
As a butcher, we dealt with dome very nice game hung turkeys,
The flavour and tenderness would improve with it being hung for a week before being gutted/ evisverated.

The turkeys are just bronze, possibly a partial cross, as their tail and wing feathers are a little different to others I've seen.
I do think he is behaving odd, he hangs out with them all, jumps on the wall, but won't go on his perch, possibly his eyes are not good in...

I have a turkey pecking one of my hens till she is bleeding, it's also the same turkey that won't go up to roost at night, he just sets himself down in the house on the shavings.
I would say his eyesight doesn't seem great, as he doesn't seem to see the roosts?
