This was sold to me as a Delaware hen. Any idea what it actually is? I think it may also be a rooster. :(

I completely agree. Unfortunately, everyone that has gotten roosters in their order is now realizing it so, rehoming one is really tough. Adding that already difficult situation is the new rules on facebook groups, where you could normal post the need for rehoming a farm animal. Now it so...

This White "hen" was sold to me as a Delaware hen chick. Any idea what it actually is? I think it may also be a rooster. It doesn't fit any of the breeds the feed store was selling so I think it was a mess up with the hatchery delivery. If it is a rooster I really need to give it away. I can't...

    Golden Comet pale comb mystery

Coastal Southeast Louisiana....I know they usually lay less it just seems like a long time for her to be so pale. I have about ten other chickens...different breeds...that are the same age and are not not laying yet or are just getting back to it but their combs are normal. I'm just concerned...

    Golden Comet pale comb mystery

My 3 year old Golden Comet Lucy has a pale comb for the past four months. She is eating less but not starving. She molted heavily for the first time but has been finished molting for at least a month. She has dropped from top of the food chain to almost the bottom. I wormed her and the whole...

Rhode Island Red with a very swollen butt, loss in appetite, and pale floppy comb.

I'm probably too late by this time but I wanted to reply that I had the exact same situation and brought my hen to a vet. and found out that she had reproductive cancer. They gave her meds that made her better but as soon as I ran out of meds she went right down hill. She lasted a few months...

Can chickens have cooked rabbit bones?

Rabbit bones are tiny. I only use the back/ribs and flaps for broth so all are small. This is regular broth not bone broth so the bones do not crumble.

    Pale Comb

I've been researching the pale combs for mine as well. It seems that they can go pale during molting, if they are vitamin deficient, if they are not getting regular sunshine as well as some diseases. I've been giving mine Cod Liver Oil mixed into her feed because it has been overcast for weeks...
