What is Niclosamide and what are its specifications?
Niclosamide is a white crystalline powder without a distinctive smell or taste. It is soluble in water and in other organic solvents. Administration should be followed with plenty of water and further fluids including milk or fruit juices to prevent side effects which may occur within one hour after administration.

The molecular formula of niclosamide is C13H8Cl2N2O4 with a molecular weight which is approximately 327.12. The number 327 indicates that this compound contains 33 atoms (of hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen and oxygen) in its molecular structure, while a higher value indicates that there are more atoms in each molecule – in fact, it means chemical stability and high solubility.

What is the chemical structure of Niclosamide?

Niclosamide is a diamidine derivative which contains one amino group (NH2), and two imidazole (N=N) groups. The systematic name of this compound is 3,5-diamino-1H-imidazole-2-carbaldehyde oxime, which is written as HCl.
