Hi folks, we just had a fox enter our fenced in back yard and almost caught a chicken until I intervened. Thinking I may need a dog or set some traps. For now chickens are back in there 4' x12' secure run today, but pecking each other on the backs (missing feathers and bare red skin on a...
You can be alerted via smart phone app if a intruder come within the specified area. Also you have options for not only the siren but also a human voice saying different messages. Also has the 2 way talk option with a built in speaker and mic. I still haven’t got around to installing mine yet...
I would suggest a wired ip camera using POE (Power Over Ethernet). But You would need to run a cat5e Ethernet cable out to the location. I am a camera installer by trade and would suggest a 2MP starlight active deterrent camera from Dahua. I have one out front my entrance to shop and have...

Would this be an example of a bad coop? Does This company need to be emailed? If they made them properly, they could...
So the minimum is 1 sq ft per Hen, so I would need a minimum of 4 sq ft for my 4 Hens. So if I cut a rectangle of 6 " x 60 inches = 2.5 sq ft. on one side and then another 6" x 60"= 2.5 on the other side, does this count as 5 sq ft total? Thanks.
Lol I think I need to go back to school for math :he. Yes I will cut air vents like you suggested And make sure nothing is dripping on the chickens. Again thank-you for your input. This project was kind of an unexpected Rush job as winter is creeping up fast, plus Im feeling sorry the the Hens...
not sure about plastic, but I did salvage a small piece of breathable house wrap from the dumpster at work today. Not sure if this is better and I Don't really see the purpose of insulating the roof if I am going to be adding vents up there anyways? Im thinking of hole sawing 8 4" holes at top...
Hi 3KillerBs, yes the roof is sloped 6” inches over a 12’ ft span. Yes we do get lots of snow most winters. So I would have to insulate the roof and add some vapour barrier plastic? I am using 1/4 mahogany sub flooring plywood to liner the inside of there coop box. I will hole saw some separate...
Thank-you! Yes I’ve been reading lots about this here and was hoping the 1inch by 1.5 inch x 12 spacing in ribs between the tin roof and rafters would be enough if I leave the roof as is? Gets cold up here in southern Canada and is quite windy here too.
Hello all! So we recently received 4 chickens and a free pre fab coop from various family members. I Know this pre fab isn't designed for 4 hens, so I am building a new coop. I set to the interwebs google images to see if I could find a simple but yet sturdy design and low and behold it brought...
lol not really sure, got them from my brother in law who ordered to many from the local feed store. 2 brown/redish, 1 black and 1 white. will post some pics tomorrow after work.
