    Seeking Durable, Reliable Waterer

Thanks very much for posting this link. It looks exactly like what I want. Is one nipple enough for 6 chickens? Seems like it would be but I want to be sure.

Pros and Cons using this type of waterer

I have similar and it’s a pain to keep clean. There are fancy stands to put the bucket on but I currently have water and feed wired to the fence. I don’t know how they do it but they manage to sling poop and dirt into both. So - new plan was to put pavers below but now looking at a nipple...

Coop functionally finished. Chickens moving in.

Nice digs. In my misspent youth, I lived in apartments not as nice.

    Rooster?

I’m told the larger comb an indication of a rooster. He’s also larger than his sibs. Just in case, I’ve been bringing him every day in for lap time. The last thing I want is shredded ankles. What do you think? My chicks are about 3-4 weeks old and I’ve been told I have a rooster. I really...

    Cooling - solar or electric?

Thanks for all the good info. It’s so hot right now so I’m concerned about that. I’ll put in the exhaust fan and probably a light as well. There’s a window and a full size door but having to make a night time visit is inevitable.

    Cooling - solar or electric?

My chicks are about 3-4 weeks old and their permanent coop and yard will soon be done. I thought a solar powered fan would be cool (sorry; just couldn’t help myself). Then I realized it wouldn’t run at night which is when they would be in the closed house. I can put in electricity and maybe...

    Chicken Little

That’s my thinking as well. The others aren’t treating her any different, they all dust bathe and snuggle together. I’ve had adults but these are my first chicks since I was a kid.

    Chicken Little

I wish I knew their age. They were a surprise. I thought I was picking up chicks so from a woman with chickens but she made a trip to the feed store and found these little cuties for $1 each. She decided they’d make a perfect gift to me so - here we are.

    Chicken Little

I have six chicks - 3 white Jersey giants and 3 sapphire gems. I don’t know their ages. Five are doing well but one sapphire gem is tiny. When I get them, she was the same size as the other two sapphire gems and now all 5 look to be very close in age. I was afraid she wasn’t eating or drinking...
