Has anyone applied DE directly to their chickens for mites? I use it when I clean the coup and the girls are away.. but I know they can be very sensitive to the fine dust.
Hello, I have an 18-week old easter egger who has been shaking her head a lot lately. She seems otherwise healthy. I looked briefly for mites this morning (didn't have my glasses on). It also looks like she's losing a bit of feathers around her face from the scratching. Perhaps it's allergies?

This is my rock at 5 weeks. Based upon the size of that comb on her head, I'm thinking she may be a he? Any comments? She/he is also at the top of the pecking order. Mother hen or bossy male?
